Good Directions and Bridge Point
Proposed Ongoing Engagement Model
"Bridge Point is not simply providing labour."
This is the central point they need to accept.
Context
Bridge Point has become a critical technology partner to Good Directions.
Over the course of the relationship, Bridge Point has developed significant knowledge of the Good Directions environment, its systems, its people, its operational requirements and the way technology supports the wider organisation. That knowledge cannot be replaced simply by purchasing ad hoc technical labour.
Bridge Point provides continuity, trusted advice, rapid problem-solving, support for Michael, access to senior capability and the ability to step in when additional resource or expertise is required.
The value of the relationship therefore extends well beyond the individual hours spent completing tasks.
Why the Model Needs to Change
However, the nature of the engagement has changed over time. What was previously a broad and commercially flexible arrangement has become increasingly directed, reactive and labour-focused. Good Directions has also elected not to adopt recurring managed services from Bridge Point.
As a result, the current structure no longer properly reflects either the value Bridge Point provides or the capacity we must retain to support Good Directions.
The current engagement requires Bridge Point to retain knowledge, availability and delivery capacity without a commercial structure that properly recognises those obligations.
We are providing accumulated organisational knowledge, trusted judgement, continuity, technical leadership and the ability to respond without Good Directions needing to rebuild context each time an issue arises.
Proposed Options
Option 1
$5,000/moStrategic Availability Retainer + Ad Hoc
The retainer is not a bundle of prepaid hours. It retains Bridge Point's availability, knowledge and capability. Delivery work is charged separately as needed.
- ✓ Ongoing support and guidance for Michael
- ✓ Access to senior Bridge Point personnel
- ✓ Technical and operational advice
- ✓ Continuity of knowledge across the GD environment
- ✓ Backfill support when additional capability is required
- ✓ Priority consideration for urgent matters
- ✓ Participation in planning and problem-solving
Option 2
PREFERREDRetainer Plus Scheduled Delivery
The monthly retainer preserves the strategic relationship. The two delivery days are the execution component; the retainer pays for Bridge Point remaining embedded, available and accountable.
- ✓ Everything in Option 1
- ✓ Two programmed delivery days each month
- ✓ Structured monthly work plan
- ✓ Prioritisation of agreed initiatives
- ✓ Dedicated capacity (cannot be allocated elsewhere)
- ✓ Improved accountability, planning and certainty
Next Step
Our preference is the Retainer Plus Scheduled Delivery model, as it provides Good Directions with both ongoing access to Bridge Point and guaranteed monthly execution capacity.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss the model and agree a structure that supports the next phase of the relationship.
